As many of you know we were co-Founders of the Susquehanna River Archaeological Center (SRAC) in 2005, and brought the museum and organization to downtown Waverly in 2007. This was the beginning of our love for this quaint little town with a big heart. Since then we purchased the historic former Waverly Village Hall and have renovated as much as we could on our own.
The Crooked River Co-op has been our biggest effort to date in the building and it currently takes up nearly three floors of the Teaoga building, with a membership of over 50 people presently selling items here. Also, people donate items to the co-op to sell for SRAC and 100% of those sales go back to SRAC as a fundraiser every month. Again, it is all about community.
In 2018 we were awarded a 1 million dollar grant from the Restore New York grant committee and that will again allow us to upgrade the building even more. Along with installing new windows, re pointing all of the brick exterior, renovating the bell tower, adding three apartments to the third floor, and adding an elevator, and other things we have decided to renovate the Firehouse into a space for a Mexican restaurant to add to the food options available here in the downtown. We are currently discussing the space with a couple of interested parties to run the restaurant, and are interested in talking with anyone who may have interest.
We want to thank all of you for your continued support for SRAC, The Crooked River Co-op, Teaoga Development and our historic building renovation efforts on the former Village Hall. Together we can do so much for this small town and our community!
